The Bethel Series is a tool designed to aid church members in gaining a deeper understanding of the Biblical message. The primary objective is to provide a knowledgeable overview of the Scriptures to serve as a base from which to pursue an in-depth study of God’s Word. The Bethel Series acquaints the student with a basic understanding of both the Old and New Testament narratives. The student begins to see the interrelationships of events and ideas within the Scriptures, and therefore, gains an appreciation for the part as it relates to the whole and the whole as it relates to the part. The course is designed for lay people, taught by lay people and geared to speak to lay people.

As Christians we have a history and we need to know that history, understand our roots (the "rock from which we were hewn") if we are to know who we are, to Whom we belong, and what our mission is. The Bible gives us that history (His Story), in such a compelling way that we know ourselves to be an integral part of it. This happens when the Bible becomes a Living Word, a Word that is relevant and speaks to us in the here and now.
