Dear CCPC Family,

"I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least
of these brothers of mine, you did for Me."
-Matthew 25:40 NIV

These words of Jesus to His disciples during the last week before His crucifixion show us the truth of the Gospel. He spent much of His time teaching them that He had come as a servant -- a Lamb and not a king -- and that they/we too are to be servants. But just like Christians today, those disciples didn't often see the humble expressions of God's love because they were focused on their own position of power and glory in His kingdom, a kingdom His followers assumed was imminent. In this passage from Matthew, Jesus told His disciples that when they fed the poor, invited the stranger, clothed the needy, or visited the prisoner, they were doing these simple acts of kindness unto Him.

Sometimes we ignore simple acts of kindness. We don't think of them as being important in the grand scheme of things. Remember what happened on the Revelation Choir Tour in June? It was one of those encounters in our daily lives. The impromptu sharing of our music with the traveling soldiers provided us with an opportunity for service... for serving Him and showing His love through our actions. That day in Tucumcari, the youth among us recognized the opportunity long before the adults did -- an opportunity to honor those fighting for us by offering what we had: songs of God's love. As the saying goes, "out of the mouths of babes..." And what we experienced on that hot summer afternoon was an unforgettable moment in a simple act of service.
