Dear CCPC Family,

"I am the Light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness,
but will have the Light of life."
-John 8:12

Jesuswas just explaining to a friend the other day that I struggle at this time of the year with the busyness that comes with this joyful season of anticipation of our Lord's birth. All the cards to be mailed, the decorations to be displayed, the science fair projects due the first of the year which causes my family much frustration during the Christmas break from school! Last Wednesday, Pastor Stacy led our Bible study and she had an awesome message for us that took us all totally by surprise.

She asked the question, "What doesn't belong in this season?" We shared in a trio before sharing our thoughts as a big group and being the overachieving group of women that we are, we came up with a plethora of responses! Science fair projects was simple compared with death, depression, crying, ICU waiting rooms, homelessness, hunger, and war. As all of us were struggling with the negative responses, Stacy reminded us that our Savior was born for the purpose of conquering all of those negative aspects in our lives, no matter the time of year. We were reminded that Jesus was born into a sinful and struggling world and that His light will outshine all our darkness -- whatever that may be.

So now as I drive down my street at night and admire the lights that some have found time to hang on our houses and bushes, I have a new outlook on what those lights and the glitz of the season represent. I now see those lights as a small glimmer of Christ's light. He is the light of the world as simply stated in the book of John. I am so grateful for the awesomeness of Christ's birth -- the light that has entered a world of darkness!

Light of the world, as we go about the busyness we create during this time
of anticipation, we pray we can find Your light through whatever "darkness" surrounds us.
Thank You for our church leaders who remind us that You came into the world
to carry our burdens and lighten our load.
May our Christmas celebrations be worthy of Your gift of Light.
Amen.

Merry Christmas!
