Among the riches of the reformed
tradition are the various catechisms, statements of faith, and
confessions that in different times and places have given voice
to our faith in times of crisis or need. This page will explore
these riches with an eye toward their meaning for our life of
faith today. Each week I will briefly comment on one or more questions
from the catechism and add some scripture and questions for reflection.
This is intended to be a daily
devotional guide and will be updated weekly and there will be
enough in each weeks installment to spread out over the
week. If you have never established a daily devotional time in
your life, or just dont know where to start, consider the
following routine:
| |
Set a regular time and place. |
| |
Center yourself with a few deep breaths. |
| |
Pray with the Lords Prayer. |
| |
Read the commentary. |
| |
Read the question and answer from the
catechism slowly and reflectively; allow its words or images
to speak to you and go with any that grab you asking meditatively
what the LORD might BE SAYING to you THROUGH THEM. |
| |
Read the suggested scripture the same way. |
| |
Ponder one or more of the reflection questions
EACH DAY. |
| |
Repeat each day of the week expecting to
see and hear different truths and insights each day. |
| |
Close with your own prayer of adoration,
confession, thanksgiving, and supplication.This weeks
devotions. |
