Large and mature churches, like Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church, use endowed funds to provide long-term support for special causes and functions. The idea is to accumulate investment monies and then use the interest and dividends from those investments to pay for special needs. These funds, and their income, are not used for normal operating expenses.
Here at CCPC, we have three funds:
1. The Scholarship Endowment provides scholarships for students. Our Youth Committee oversees the selection of recipients.
2. The Mission Endowment provides for support over and beyond the usual and regular annual budget of the church. Generally, it is for the expansion of the mission of the congregation to the community, at home or abroad. Our Mission Committee decides how best to apply these special dollars.
3. The General Endowment supports various undertakings of the church, as determined by the Session. Essentially, this means any special or unusual need identified by the Session and not in the normal budget.
The Endowments grow through designated gifts from members of our congregation. These gifts may be any tangible contribution, including stocks and bonds or proceeds from insurance policies and annuities.
If you have questions or need further information about endowed funds, please contact one of our Trustees: Kathy Greenough, Bob Hicks, John Ingle, Will Lenhardt, Anne McCully, or Beth McIntire.
