Special Mission Offering for Sunday, May 18:
The Stewpot

In 1975, a bedraggled hungry man appeared at the door of First Presbyterian Church of Dallas, asking for food. In response, the Associate Pastor and members of the church opened a small soup kitchen in the basement and named it “The Stewpot.”

Today, The Stewpot is a comprehensive resource center for homeless and at risk adults, youth, and children of Dallas. It provides a myriad of services including accessible dental and medical care, street outreach for drug and alcohol addiction, supportive assistance, self sufficiency opportunities, and lunch five days a week for the 500+ homeless and at risk individuals.

A new Homeless Assistance Center will be opening a few blocks away from The Stewpot later this spring. Once open, the Stewpot will begin providing three meals a day, seven days a week at the new location. Other services will continue to be provided at the current site.

The Stewpot operates under the 501(c)3 of First Presbyterian Church of Dallas, which provides for building maintenance, utilities, and administrative expenses of The Stewpot. Direct program support for The Stewpot comes from donations from individuals, corporations, foundations, church, and civic groups outside of First Presbyterian Church. Please give generously on Sunday, May 18, to our Special Mission Offering: The Stewpot.
