WHO ARE
THE GROAN UPS?
Anyone
who wants to join! Generally, a Groan Up of CCPC is a person who
is fifty-five years of age or older but there is no rule to that
affect!
ARE ALL
GROAN UPS RETIRED?
Many are, many are not. This group
is diverse!
WHEN DO
THEY MEET?
Monthly, except for May, July and August. The meetings
are usually on the third Sunday of each month.
WHAT DO
THEY DO?
Groan Ups sponsor many planned activities throughout
the year and a covered dish luncheon takes place every other month
or so at the church, after the 11:00 am Service of Worship. Everyone
brings their favorite dish to share.
WHAT KIND
OF ACTIVITIES DO THEY SPONSOR?

Groan
Ups take lots of group trips. Past outings locally include trips
to plays at local theaters; to museums; on the DART train and
the infamous Tarantula Train; to the Fort Worth Stockyards; to
the Arboretum for Dallas Blooms; and to the Japanese Botanical
Gardens. Long distance trips are also sponsored, such as the Bush
Library in College Station.
There are special events throughout
the year, such as the Annual Shrimp Boil and the Christmas Party.
They also enjoy going out for dining experiences at a variety
of local restaurants.
WHY JOIN?
If
you are a new member of CCPC, or are just not familiar with the
Groan Ups, do not infer from the lighthearted name that members
of the group cant walk or move about freely without moaning
and groaning
.nothing could be further from the truth. The
group consists of more than 125 vibrant and fun-loving "Senior"
members of CCPC.
Although this group was initially
formed to assist the seniors of CCPC, Groan Ups has become a valuable
service to CCPC and are considered a dynamic and integral part
of the congregation.
