What is Healing Prayer Ministry?

Just as it did in Jesus’ ministry, healing prayer may have different dimensions. God sometimes heals sovereignly without prayer, sometimes as a result of general prayer, and sometimes as a result of specific prayer targeting particular needs. It is important to remember that only God is responsible for the healing. Our responsibility is to be obedient and pray.

This ministry includes several dimensions. One dimension of this ministry is Spiritual Healing (Repentance) for personal sin. Scripture clearly tells us that if we repent of our sin, He is faithful to cleanse us of all unrighteousness. Another dimension is Physical Healing. This may be instantaneous, or it may require continual prayer over a period of time, which is called “soaking prayer.” God answers our requests in a variety of ways. There may be full healing, an improvement, or no improvement that we can see. Because healing is God’s work, we acknowledge that there is much mystery involved.

A third dimension is Inner Healing, dealing with past hurts, asking Jesus to free us from the effect these wounds have on us today. Since Jesus is not bound by time, He can be with us in our emotional pain at whatever stage of life we were hurt.

Why do I need healing prayer?

All of us have times of spiritual, emotional or physical pain in our lives. Some circumstances that could be helped by individual prayer include: grief over the death of a loved one, divorce, miscarriage, abortion, job loss or dissatisfaction, addictions of all types, infertility, illness, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, abandonment, adoption, abuse, financial crisis, lack of direction and purpose, or feeling distant from God.

How can I receive prayer for my specific needs?

Trained healing prayer teams are available to assist you as follows:

1. First Sunday of the month immediately after the eleven o’clock Service of Worship
in the Witherspoon Room

2. Every Sunday at 9:45 am in Room M116, as a component of the class,
“Learning To Do What Jesus Did”

3. In response to a request for a home or hospital visit

A “Service for Healing and Wholeness” will be held at 7:30 pm on the second Tuesday of each month in the Sanctuary. These services are open to the community and will be an outreach to all who seek the healing touch of Jesus through the Power of the Holy Spirit. Please invite your family and friends who need support.
