CCPC 2018 Lent and Holy Week Blog
How do you walk in the way of grace? Journey through Lent and Holy Week with your CCPC family.
17 And to the man he said,
“Because you have listened to the voice of your wife,
and have eaten of the tree
about which I commanded you,
‘You shall not eat of it,’
cursed is the ground because of you;
in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life;
18 thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you;
and you shall eat the plants of the field.
19 By the sweat of your face
you shall eat bread
until you return to the ground,
for out of it you were taken;
you are dust,
and to dust you shall return.”
The words many of us hear on Ash Wednesday “you are dust, and to dust you shall return” are the words that people hear in hospital rooms or doctor’s offices every time a person hears a new diagnosis or things are not as we hoped for with your illness. We in our society live as though we will never die but the guarantee in our life is that we will die. As a Chaplain, the grace that I see is when patients and families have spoken about their death and how they wanted to live their life. The grace and peace in the family who choose to talk is visible in the grief and healing they receive.
Healing God, as we with this text, help us look deeper into body, mind and spirit during our Lenten Journey. AMEN
