CCPC currently sponsors three mission
trips each year, providing opportunities for children (7 and older),
youth and adults to spread Gods love and help others in
His name.
Adult
and Family Mission Trip to Mexico: In March, we sponsored
our second annual family mission team to Mexico. There were 33
members on this team ranging in age from 8 to 73. This team embarked
on an adventure to Isla Fantasia in the Laguna Madre off the Gulf
of Mexico where the team built a new school building and completely
tore down and rebuilt another existing school building that was
not being used. Each morning, the team drove 60 miles from their
lodging inland to the shore where they boarded launches for a
five minute boat ride to the island.
The
island has just one small fishing community on the south end of
the island. The remainder of the island is covered by short, brushy
trees that offer little shade and the northernend of the island
is covered by sand dunes. The people living there have no running
water, no electricity and no plumbing. They live in huts constructed
from mostly plywood and tarpaper or tin roofs with dirt floors.
The men and women of this tiny
fishing community worked right along side us as we developed many
new friendships with them. The women helped paint while holding
their babies and the men helped as we raised a new classroom and
rebuilt another. The people on this island live in poverty that
we find hard to imagine, even hard to comprehend, but they are
people of great faith. To

Senior
High Mission Trip: Every summer our youth participate in a mission trip which is a combination of work and witness as we seek to live out our faith in Christ. People from all different denominations and areas of the country converge on a community and spend a week repairing homes and serving the local residents. This is an invaluable chance to live out our faith and understand what it means to be ambassadors and imitators of Jesus Christ. This trip is offered to all young people grades 9 through 12. For more information, contact Ellen Dittman, Interim Director of Youth and Family Ministries.
The
Mission Trip to Cambodia supports
the growing partnership between CCPC and three churches in Cambodia.
Our first mission trip to Cambodia was a "vision quest"
to discern Gods will for the involvement of CCPC in Cambodia.
Based on what we saw, learned, and experienced, the mission team
developed a plan to respond to Gods call.
So
that we may work with Christian Cambodians already there, we have
established partnerships with two groups that we visited on our
trip. The first is the Church of Mercy, led by Pastor Chheng Nuon.
He has one congregation in Prak Ambel and another in Sre Treng.
The second church is the Khmer Presbyterian Church led by Pastor
Sambo Yauk. The main church is located in Phnom Penh, but he also
pastors seven cell churches in and around the city. With these
two partnerships in place, we have set up scholarship funds to
enable leaders identified by Chheng and Sambo to attend the Phnom
Penh Bible School. For more information about how you can become involved,
contact Sharon Wittmann.
