CCPC Pipe Organ

On Sunday, August 21, 2005, Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church was led in worship for the first time by our new Quimby Pipe Organ, Opus 61.

The 57-rank, 3-manual organ is an instrument of outstanding tonal colors, enhanced by the great acoustics of the sanctuary. Together they make for magnificent congregational song - the first priority of this organ. Dedicated on September 11, 2005, by concert organist Bradley Hunter Welch, the organ has proven also to be a great solo instrument.

The second dedication concert brought together the congregation and all the choirs of the Music Ministry in a service of hymns led by organist Colin Howland, who also served the CCPC Organ Search Committee as consultant. The Sunday evening presentation on November 6, 2005, was God in Three Persons: A Festival of Hymns.

CCPC Organist, Dr. Sally Hill, was featured with the organ, the Sanctuary Choir, and the North Star Ringers in the third dedication concert, A Feast of Carols, presented on Sunday, December 11.

The next special organ event in the dedicatory first year brought together the young and brilliant organist, Paul Jacobs, with the Richardson Symphony Orchestra under the baton of RSO Music Director, Anshel Brushilow. Mr. Jacobs is the Chairman of the Organ Department of the Julliard School of Music of New York City. The concert was Saturday, April 1, 2006, in the Sanctuary and included pieces for organ and orchestra, as well as solo organ works.
