Ellen Boehmer
Mission Ministry Associate


Ellen is originally from upstate New York, where she was raised in the Dutch Reformed Church. She has degrees from Miami University (Ohio) in elementary education (B.S. Ed) and guidance and counseling (M.Ed). She taught for five years and then became an elementary school counselor, retiring from fulltime work in that role in 2003 after 30 years in education and 24 years with the Richardson ISD. Since then, she worked halftime as a counselor in RISD for two years and then moved to the Guidance and Counseling Department, where she serves as Elementary Counselor Support to the district’s 47 elementary counselors. She continues to mentor all of the new elementary school counselors in Richardson ISD. Ellen works at the church on Tuesdays and for RISD Wednesdays through Fridays.

Ellen has been a member of CCPC since 1992. A long time member of the Mission Committee, she has served Canyon Creek as a ruling elder and annual organizer of the church’s Mexico mission trips since they began in 2002.

Tom and Ellen Boehmer have been married for 21 years. Tom is an actuary but is best known at Canyon Creek for his role as lead and bass guitar player and singer/songwriter who shares his musical gifts at the 8:30 contemporary service of worship. Tom is also an elder and a member of the Mission Committee. Their only child, Chelsea, is a freshman at Denison University in Ohio.
