Marsha D. Ray
Director of Children's Music

For 27 years, Marsha has been actively involved in music education. She received her undergraduate degree in music in 1977 from the University of Texas at Austin, majoring in Music Education and voice, and continued studies in Kodaly at UTD. For six years she taught in the RISD, directing a large choral program at Richardson North Junior High, receiving numerous honors, including the invitation to perform at the National Convention of the American Choral Directors Association – a "mountaintop experience." Marsha has served nationally as an adjudicator, clinician, and guest conductor. After retiring from public school teaching to raise a family, Marsha taught private voice and piano lessons in her home for 12 years. She enjoyed singing with the Dallas Symphony Chorus for eleven years, serving as the Soprano Section Leader. After joining Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church in 1990, Marsha volunteered her time in the music areas of the Children’s Ministries, serving as Interim Director of Children’s Choirs in 1993 before joining the staff in 1994. Marsha is a member of Choristers Guild and Texas Music Educators Association.

Marsha and her husband, Rick have two children, Brian and Melissa and have lived in Richardson for 26 years. Outside of church, they enjoy traveling, basking at the beach in Southern California (where Marsha grew up) and hiking in the Colorado mountains. Although Marsha’s music experiences are varied and have all been rewarding, she will be the first to tell you that her greatest joy is in the classroom, surrounded by children, "singing their hearts out" to God. This, she has discovered, is her calling and a real "Mountaintop Experience!"
