Viral Generosity in a Quarantine World
God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, therefore, those who love God must love their brothers and sisters also. (Romans 5:5; 1 John 4:21)
What makes something go viral? “Did you see that video? It went viral!” we often say. What is happening when something goes viral? I think things “go viral,” not because we all happen to like something, but because deep down we each long to be reminded that we are connected to one another. We are constantly looking for a connection. When something goes viral, it becomes an outward expression of the need to be connected to that which is greater than ourselves. In short, it reminds us of God.
In the church, the thing that connects us perhaps more than anything else is generosity. From the very first days of the church, how we give to one another and to others connects us in very powerful ways. For Christians, generosity is viral. It connects us with each other. It connects us with God.
Our ministries have been and continue to adjust to the current environment as we follow Christ by building relationships with people. Perhaps more than any other, this is the year for all of us to dig deep into our hearts. Take some time to prayerfully consider how you will give to help support the vibrant ministries of CCPC in 2021. Be part of God's viral generosity!
